Darren Parr – Computing ICT and Technology

Throughout my own time in education, I always held a keen interest in Computing, ICT, and Technology. I graduated from Edge Hill University in 2016 with a PGCE to teach Computer Science at secondary school level and I am now a fully qualified teacher of Computer Science with 7 years of secondary school classroom experience of teaching students from 11 to 18 years of age with a strong track record of success for my students.

I have developed into a teacher that is enthusiastic, considerate, and approachable. Throughout my time teaching in the classroom, I have consistently been complimented on my ability to cultivate strong positive relationships with students. I want to take my passion for teaching and working with young people, and combine this with the skills and knowledge that I have gained over my teaching career, as well as my passion for Computer Science to focus on those that want to push themselves further outside of the school setting.

Students’ motivations can vary, some may want to improve in Computer Science because it is an area in which they are currently struggling, or they may have a keen interest in the subject that they wish to explore further; whether you are the former or the latter, I believe I can provide a valuable service. I have always advocated for one-to-one tuition because of how easy and common it is to support learners in thriving in spite of having struggled previously. One-to-one tuition can so often be decisive in developing knowledge of a subject or developing confidence in a subject. This is arguably most important as confidence in your ability to achieve a goal is a huge part in succeeding when it comes to exams.

I am available Monday to Friday and during the weekend. Please contact me to ask any questions that you may have.
