Joe McKay – GCSE Sciences and A Level Biology

I am a final year medical student, training at the Royal Preston Hospital. I am passionate about teaching and know the importance of an engaging and enthusiastic tutor, drawing on my own experiences as a student and an understanding of the challenges young people face in education. I have a wealth of experience tutoring younger students at university and helping college students prepare for their application to medical school. I view tutoring as finding the right way to support the student to enable themselves to achieve their goals and maximize their potential and try to tailor my sessions to the individual.

I left school with A-levels in Biology (A*), Chemistry (A), Geography (A*) and have a BSc (Hons) in Medicine from the University of St Andrews. I have been an academic prize winner at school, at the University of Manchester and at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. These achievements would not have been possible without the belief and support of a number of people throughout my academic career and I hope that I can provide the same to young people in Preston.
